Turkey is one of the most popular travel destinations. This multifaceted country combines tradition and modernity in a very special way. Turkey is located on both the European continent (3%) and the Asian continent (97%). The capital Ankara is the second largest city in Turkey after Istanbul and the political center of the country.
Turkey is now one of the most attractive destinations for a golf vacation. Golf trips to Turkey are becoming increasingly popular. The Belek region in particular has developed into a top destination for golf trips. Turkey has already made a name for itself as a relatively young golf destination, although the first golf course in Belek was only opened in 1995. It can get pretty hot in July and August. Temperatures here average between 28 degrees Celsius and 35 degrees Celsius. However, temperatures can also rise to over 40 degrees Celsius.
The official currency in Turkey is the Turkish lira, divided into 100 kurus.
How can you pay?
In Turkey, you can pay with the euro almost everywhere, but if you want to get a bargain, you should use the lira. Tip: Tourists should pay in euros in stores, but lira are preferred in restaurants. EC and credit cards are accepted in many stores and hotels. Cash can usually only be withdrawn in the local currency from the ATMs available throughout the country. However, you can also withdraw euros from a few ATMs. Cashing traveler's cheques can be a problem in Turkey.
Visas are not required in Turkey for stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period. A passport, temporary passport, identity card or child's passport is sufficient.
You can use your cell phone in Turkey via roaming, whereby the largest provider here is Turkcell. Prepaid cell phones must be activated in advance in Germany for use abroad.

- Bathing topless is an absolute taboo. In Turkey, nudism is strictly forbidden. Too much naked skin is frowned upon here.
- Drinking in public is considered a disgrace in Turkey.

- The consumption and possession of drugs is strictly forbidden in Turkey and is severely punished.
Turkey also has a lot to offer in terms of cuisine. Mediterranean cuisine can look back on thousands of years of tradition. Fresh vegetables and fruit, rice, lamb, veal or beef, fresh fish, seafood and exotic spices - Turkish cuisine is varied and healthy.
Black tea (cay) is drunk throughout the day in Turkey. It is considered the national drink here.
Another national drink is an aniseed schnapps, raki. This is enjoyed in small sips. When drunk with food, it is said to make the meal more digestible.
The bus network in Turkey is very well developed.
Shared cabs (dolmus), which not only stop at designated points but also pick up passengers by hand signal, are also very popular.
The most important airports in Turkey are located in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir and Antalya.
More than 20 languages are spoken in Turkey. The official language is Turkish.
