Situated between Milan and Venice in the north of Italy, the Lake Garda region (Ital. Lago di Garda) impresses with its central location, exceptional landscapes and Mediterranean climate. With a shoreline length of around 158 kilometers, this inland body of water is the largest lake in Italy and has a lot to offer - including for golf-loving holidaymakers.
There is something for every vacationer at Lake Garda. There are great beaches, many small bathing bays and quaint villages on the shores of the lake, which attract numerous tourists to the region every year. The bays on the southern shore of Lake Garda are particularly suitable for swimming excursions, where the water already extends into the Po Valley. The northern shore in the middle of the Alps, on the other hand, is primarily for water sports enthusiasts.
There is also plenty to experience from a cultural perspective in the region. The pretty little town of Malcesine on the eastern shore of Lake Garda, for example, offers visitors the opportunity to stroll through the narrow alleyways or climb the nearby castle. Peschiera del Garda is located on the south-eastern shore. Ruins from Roman times and Venetian buildings can be visited there. Those looking for a little more action and variety can visit the nearby "Gardaland" amusement park. The largest amusement park in Italy offers numerous rides for the whole family. Canevapark is also an alternative. The cities of Verona and Trento with their cultural highlights are also always worth a visit.
Lake Garda, with its mountains and mild climate, is a true paradise for sports enthusiasts. Whether climbing, mountain biking, sailing, paragliding, surfing, hiking, horse riding, Nordic walking, diving, tennis or, of course, golf - there is something for everyone! Fancy a round of golf under the cypress trees?
Golfing on Lake Garda is possible all year round. The Mediterranean hilly landscape, cypress hills, olive trees, vineyards and of course Lake Garda itself create a very special flair. Mostly located on the southern part of the inland waterway, the various courses offer green fee prices similar to those in Germany. There are currently eleven golf courses in the immediate vicinity of Lake Garda:
Whether by plane, train or coach, Lake Garda is easy to reach. The nearest airport is "Valerio Catullo" in Verona Villafranca. Germanwings offers flights from Berlin-Tegel, Cologne and Hamburg to this destination, as does Air Dolomiti from Frankfurt and Munich. The Lake Garda town of Peschiera can be reached from the airport in just 20 minutes. Travelers can use a shuttle service to Lake Garda (e.g. Europlan) Alternatively, there is a shuttle bus from Verona Airport to the main train station. From there, various trains leave for Lake Garda.
For German travelers, the lake is also easily accessible by car. The big advantage: you are also mobile on site and can explore the surrounding landscapes and golf courses to your heart's content. Lake Garda is just 4 hours away from Munich.
