What does Bad Saarow and the surrounding area have to offer?

The spa town of Bad Saarow was only built at the beginning of the 20th century according to plans by garden architect Ludwig Lesser. The tourist boom began in 1911/12 with the discovery of a healing moor deposit and a brine spring in 1927. Spa houses, exclusive sanatoriums, golf courses and tennis courts were built. Thanks to its ideal water sports conditions, Bad Saarow also attracted many celebrities. A permanent exhibition in the Maxim Gorki House commemorates the spa stays of the Russian poet Maxim Gorki (1922 to 1923).

Today, Bad Saarow-Pieskow is well on the way to becoming an attractive spa center again. The thermal baths have been completed and the cultural forum, the "Theater am See" in the spa gardens, has been opened. In Pieskow, a district of Bad Saarow, there is a miniature version of Potsdam's Sanssouci Palace. Steamboat trips are offered on Lake Scharmützel, to Lake Storkow or to Fürstenwalde. You can even travel by water from Berlin. Lake Scharmützelsee can also be wonderfully circumnavigated by bike on a cycle path.

Where can I play golf?

The A-ROSA Scharmützelsee and the Sporting Club Berlin Scharmützelsee e.V. - these two terms are becoming increasingly popular in connection with the beautiful Bad Saarow. The Sporting Club Berlin Scharmützelsee e.V. has been established in Bad Saarow and the Berlin-Brandenburg golf landscape for many years and offers both members and green fee players a relaxed get-together in a wonderful atmosphere in addition to the sporting opportunities.

What accommodation is available?

The A-ROSA Scharmützelsee in Bad Saarow was opened in June 2004 and is probably the most diverse vacation resort of its kind in Germany. Just an hour's drive from Berlin and directly on the shores of Lake Scharmützelsee, the resort is set in 300 hectares of parkland. Stroll through the town center of Bad Saarow, the shopping arcades or the alleyways and discover beautiful things for yourself or your loved ones at home. Fancy even more shopping? Then take a quick trip to Berlin! Spend the morning on the Ku'damm and visit the famous KaDeWe, browse through the small designer stores around Hackesche Höfe at lunchtime and be inspired by the sophisticated stores on Friedrichstrasse in the afternoon. This is also the location of the unique Galeries Lafayette, which is absolutely worth a visit even without spending a penny.

What is the quickest way to get to Bad Saarow?

Arrival by car

The A-ROSA Scharmützelsee is located directly on the western shore of Lake Scharmützelsee between Bad Saarow and Wendisch Rietz. Coming from Berlin, take the A10 (southern or eastern Berliner Ring) to the Spreeau interchange. Then take the A12 towards Frankfurt/Oder as far as the Storkow exit. Turn left onto the country road towards Storkow and drive via Rieplos to Storkow. In Storkow, turn left at the traffic lights towards Bad Saarow. In Reichenwalde, follow the signs to Bad Saarow/A-ROSA Scharmützelsee at the fork on the right. After the sign for Bad Saarow, take the first exit at the traffic circle towards Wendisch-Rietz. Approx. 2 km after leaving Bad Saarow, take the 2nd exit at the next traffic circle. After approx. 500 m you will find the resort on the left-hand side. A warm welcome!

Please note:

Due to road works until fall 2014, please do not drive from Storkow via Wendisch Rietz, but via Reichenwalde and follow the directions. Please do not follow the detour, access to the hotel via Reichenwalde is free.

Parking lots

There are outdoor and underground parking spaces on the premises. Driving distance by car from the center of Berlin: approx. 70 km.

Outdoor parking: free of charge during your stay

Arrival by train

Via Berlin to the destination station Fürstenwalde (Spree) or Bad Saarow-Pieskow. There are cab ranks at both stations (for a fee).
