Titirangi. In the Maori language, the name means "fringes of the sky".
Perhaps Dr. Alister Mackenzie had this meaning in mind when he designed the Titirangi Golf Course in 1927. Because there is indeed something heavenly about the majestic 18 holes of Titirangi as you play along the gently rolling fairways that meander through the beautiful backdrop of the New Zealand bush.
And it's all just a twenty-minute drive from the heart of Auckland city.
Titirangi is the only golf course in New Zealand where Dr. Alister MacKenzie unleashed his genius (the same man who created golf masterpieces such as Augusta National, Cypress Point and Royal Melbourne).
The course has evolved since 1927, but MacKenzie's vision lives on as the club remains true to MacKenzie's design principles, meaning the course offers a mix of opportunities, challenges, risks and rewards on every hole.
No two holes are the same. And every round offers a new challenge - and the thrill that comes with it. So it's no wonder that once a golfer has experienced the excitement of an Alister MacKenzie-designed golf course, he or she is eager to play another round.
It is also no surprise that Titirangi Golf Club is recognized worldwide as one of the best courses in the country.
US Links Magazine, US Golf Digest, the Robb Report and top100golfcourses all rank it as the leading course in Auckland. And all have included it in their top 8 in New Zealand.
