Guavaberry Resort and Country Club

Description

Guavaberry Golf & Country Club, designed by Gary Player, is conveniently located 30 minutes east of Santo Domingo Airport near the resort town of Juan Dolio. Guavaberry, which borders tropical forest and nature reserves, opened in 2002 and soon made a name for itself as a difficult course, but one that is suitable for golfers of all levels thanks to its five tees. Player added some unique features to his Guavaberry design, including a 4.5-meter waterfall flowing into a dredging lake (on the par-3 13th signature hole, where two separate greens are rotated daily to give golfers different perspectives) and pristine coral reef formations on the 9th and 18th holes. All of Guavaberry's putting surfaces are surrounded by extensive areas for recovery shots. As the vegetation is close to many of the fairways, accuracy is paramount. In addition to the tropical flora, you will also experience waste bunkers, deep bunkers, blue skies and a constant Caribbean breeze, and the 15th green is surrounded by a 12,000 square meter pond that awaits less successful approach shots.
