Jon Rahm began his professional career in 2016, making his first start as a professional on the PGA Tour directly after his first appearance at a US Open. Previously, the exceptional golfer, who was born in Barrica, Spain, played at Arizona State University and won 11 college golf tournaments there. He is married to American Kelley Cahill and has two sons, born in 2021 and 2022.
After starting his professional career in 2016, Jon Rahm won his first tournament on both the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour in 2017. With three victories (2018, 2019, 2022) at his "home tournament", the Open de Espana, the Spaniard thrilled the home crowd and created a very special momentum. With his victory at the Memorial Tournament in 2020, he climbed to first place in the official world golf rankings, making him only the second Spaniard after Seve Ballesteros to be ranked No. 1 in the world. In 2021, he secured his first major title at the US Open. Two years later, Jon Rahm won the US Masters in Augusta National in a thrilling final round against Phil Mickelson and Brooks Koepka. He is still a PGA Championship and a Open Championship title away from a career Grand Slam.
After just two years in the professional ranks, Jon Rahm did compete in the 2018 Ryder Cup for the first time. After two unsuccessful fourball matches in a team with Ryder Cup veterans Justin Rose and Ian Poulter, Rahm played his way into the Ryder Cup history books on the final day. In the singles against Tiger Woods, the then Ryder Cup rookie held his nerve and won 2&1 against the golf legend from Team USA. Further, much more successful participations followed, including the impressive victory in Rome 2023.
In December 2023 Jon Rahm decided to join the LIV Golf League, after several statements over the previous years to have no interest in doing so. He is leading his own LIV Golf team, the “Legion XIII”, the 13th team in the leagues roster.
