The third edition of the 3M Open starts on Thursday at TPC Twin Cities. The defending champion Michael Thompson is not in the field this week, which features some of the best golfers in the world.
Who are the favorites?
Louis Oosthuizen

Another great performance for Louis Oosthuizen in a major and another big disappointment. The South African hasn't missed a cut in 2021 and already posted three runner-up finishes, two of them in majors. Finished tied for third last week at the Open after having the 54-hole lead. Louis Oosthuizen leads in Strokes Gained: Putting and conversion percentage inside 10 feet stats on the PGA Tour.
Tony Finau

Tony Finau surprised even himself last week in Scotland after shooting 67 in the final round of The Open to finish tied for 15th. Finau's last top 10s finish on the PGA Tour was at the end of May at the PGA Championship. The American will make his third appearance at the 3M Open. Finished T23 and T3 in his two previous visits to TPC Twin Cities.
Dustin Johnson

Dustin Johnson lost the top spot in the world ranking despite finishing tied for eight at The Open a week ago. Johnson played solid golf at Royal St. George's GC and was in the mix before shooting 73 in the third round. This was the first top 10s finish for the American since the Palmetto Championship at Congaree. Johnson sits second on TOUR in adjusted scoring.
Form-horse
Lucas Herbert

Lucas Herbert is more popular on the European Tour, but the Australian has some good results on the PGA Tour as well. Herbert won the Irish Open earlier this month and then finished tied for fourth at the abrdn Scottish Open. On the PGA Tour the Australian posted two top 20s in his last two starts. Missed the cut at his second Open appearance last week.
Wildcard
Tom Lewis

Tom Lewis is playing his full season on the PGA Tour, but hasn't impressed with any results yet. The young Englishman hasn't been inside the top 10 in a tournament since the WGC - FedEx St. Jude Invitational last August where finished tied for second. We often see Lewis on the first page of the leaderboard, but the problem is that he can't post four good rounds in a row. If he manages to do it this week then it won't be a surprise if we see him winning his first PGA Tour title.
