LPGA Tour: Marathon LPGA Classic presented by Dana preview

Some of the best female golfers on the planet will travel to Ohio this week for the 36th Marathon LPGA Classic presented by Dana. The first edition of the tournament was played in 1984 and since then it has been played every year except 1986 and 2011. This year Marathon LPGA Classic has a prize fund of $2,000,000 and will be played at Highland Meadows Golf Club as usual. Seven past champions will tee it up at the Marathon Classic this week including the defending champion Danielle Kang.

Three players to watch this week:

Danielle Kang ,who is ranked fifth in the world, is one of the favorites for the win this week. Kang's game has been sharp recently and she has posted three top 5s in her last four LPGA starts.

In Bee Park is the highest player in the field this week. A title from the Marathon LPGA Classic is one of the few which are missing in Park's crowded trophy cabinet. World number three took a week off after the KPMG Women's PGA Championship where she finished tied for 40th.

Sei Young Kim is not playing her best golf and it is visible from her results. The South Korean hasn't posted a top 10 since the Pure Silk Championship presented by Visit Williamsburg which was five tournaments ago. With no doubt Sei Young Kim will be keen to gain some confidence before the The Amundi Evian Championship which starts in two weeks.
