Scottie Scheffler turned professional in 2018 after previously playing college golf at the University of Texas. Schefflers first taste of the Major-atmosphere was at the US Open in 2016 where he qualified to compete as an amateur. He missed the cut back then, but was able to fight his way up to 27th place the following year, still as an amateur. Scheffler has three sisters and grew up in Dallas, Texas. He played basketball and golf at Highland Park High School and won the state individual golf title three years in a row (2012-2014). Scheffler has been married to Meredith Scudder since 2020.
Scottie Scheffler has already achieved success at the Major Championship with the Masters 2022. In a thrilling final round, he won the first major of the season at Augusta National Golf Club with ten strokes under par and a lead of three strokes. Scottie Scheffler was ranked number one in the world for the first time in March 2022. This was followed by several victories in major events and finally the first victory in the Players Championship, the flagship event of the PGA Tour, in 2023. A year later, Scheffler became the first golfer since the tournament began, to defend his title at the 2024 Players Championship. However, the top golfer from the USA has yet to win the US Open, the Open Championship and the PGA Championship.
Scottie Scheffler made his first Ryder Cup appearance of 2021 on home soil. Scheffler scored 2.5 points for Team USA in his first Ryder Cup, helping the Americans to victory. Scottie Scheffler made his debut at the 2022 Presidents Cup. Under the leadership of captain Davis Love lll, he made a rather modest exit and was unable to secure any points for the American team on his debut.
